PMB 40 is paving bitumen modified with elastomeric polymer to improve elastic recovery, rutting resistance and fatigue life. It widens the service temperature range of the pavement compared with plain VG grades.

Specified on expressways, heavily trafficked corridors and airport pavements where longer maintenance-free life justifies the premium binder.
