VG-40 is a harder, higher-viscosity paving bitumen specified where pavements face heavy axle loads, slow-moving traffic or very high service temperatures — toll plazas, junctions, bus bays and container yards.

Its higher stiffness resists rutting and shoving significantly better than VG-30 under standing and channelised traffic.
