RS-2 carries a higher bitumen content and viscosity than RS-1, making it the preferred binder for surface dressing, chip sealing and single/two-coat carpet work where aggregate must be held firmly on the road surface.

It is sprayed cold through a pressure distributor, immediately followed by aggregate spreading and rolling. Supplied in bulk tankers and drums as per IS 8887.
